Phonak Audeo Paradise Review

Phonak Audéo Paradise - Two Tickets to Paradise?

The Swiss manufacturer Phonak has come up with a new hearing aid platform: Paradise (P). Following up the highly successful Marvel (M) platform, expectations are high. But are thy being fulfilled?

Phonak Audeo Paradise

Overview

The Phonak Audéo P hearing aid is a Receiver-In-The-Ear (RIE) / Receiver-In-The-Canal (RIC) style hearing aid, which means that the receiver goes into the ear channel, while the other parts (microphones, amplifier, receiver and battery) are located behind the ear.

silicone ear piece (the dome) is located at the top of the receiver for proper fit. There are different ear dome styles and sizes available. Your hearing professional can also get you a custom-made earpiece.

RIC hearing aids are very popular because they offer many advantages over traditional hearing aids:
1. they keep the ear channel open which results in a very natural sound impression.
2. the receiver cable is very thin which makes it nearly unnoticeable.

Below is a short video of our friend Dave reviewing the Phonak Audéo Paradise hearing aids.

Tech Specs and Features

Phonak delivers the Paradise hearing aid in different styles:
– RIC (Receiver-In-The-Channel) rechargeable or battery powered
– BTE (Behind The Ear) rechargeable or battery powered
– ITE (In-The-Ear) – coming not so soon

Each style has four different technology options: P90/P70/P50/P30.
It depends on your lifestyle, your hearing loss and (of course) your budget which technology fits best for you.

  • 12 finetuning channels

One great feature is the direct Bluetooth streaming from most smartphone into the hearing aids, which let’s you hear phone calls directly in the hearing aids. This works fine and you don’t need an additional device to connect your phone to the aids.
Another very useful feature is the free smartphone app. It gives you control over the amplification and fine tuning of the hearing aids.
Fun feature: Tap Control. Activate Siri/Google Assistant, pause/resume streaming and accept/end phone calls simply by tapping on your ear (available in P90 and P70).

This is a short list of features. For more detailed information visit www.phonak.com

Conclusion

The Phonak Audéo Paradise is a pretty good hearing aid. It is small and can be programmed for most hearing losses. There are rechargeable versions and four technology levels for different budgets. Bluetooth works with most smartphones, which lets you stream phone calls and music directly into the hearing aids. The free smartphone app is a nice feature that gives you control over a lot of hearing features.

However there are hardly any improvements to the predecessor Phonak Marvel. Some new features are fun (like Tap Control) but it’s not a big hit. That’s probably the problem when you want to bring out a new device every two years.
